We are Impact-based community organisation, you have come to the right place if you are looking BEYOND clean up, tree planting OR recycling activity for doing the right thing from human activity, which brings no harm to the environment that provides you water source (rivers), food source from pollination and clean air (natural resources such as wetlands, trees, bamboos and soil, filter many pollutants from our air).

WE ARE NOT A TRASH OR RIVER CLEAN UP COMMUNITY!
Unless you are doing the similar initiative by Selangor Maritime Gateway,
where Trash vessel (The Ocean Cleanup) is collecting trash out from the river,
picking up trash on land by the riverbank is not river clean up.

"Have you noticed that everything alive needs water? Your pets, trees, and your family, too. So why do you think that is? It’s true that our bodies and other living things are made from all sorts of different things but water makes up a lot of it. Also, when you look at a globe of Earth, there really is a lot of water! Scientists have found that all living things need water. Hence, no water, no life."
Do you know in Malaysia, about 97% water is mostly sourced from rivers?
Problems
Even though we are a water-rich country, we continue to face water security, including water service disruptions, floods and river pollution are common issues in Malaysia. While scheduled water cuts are necessary for maintenance and repairs, it is the unscheduled disruptions, often caused by pollution, that cause major issues.
'Malaysia's rating in the Environmental Performance Index (EPI), which is updated every two years, has steadily declined since 2014. According to the index, pollution in Malaysia is still very bad. We still rely heavily on pesticides in our agricultural activities, perform badly in our eco-system services and species habitats index as well as protected areas.'
Actions to the Problems
Few individuals action together, doing the right approach for the riverine and ecosystem restoration. And so, it begins, the first Gotong-Royong Education by Action (GREduAction) took place on Sat 28 July 2018, fast forward, as we progressed, our work development and programme evolved to include Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), which is the key drivers to achieve the SDGs.
"ESD enable every human being to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary to shape a sustainable future, including key sustainable development issues; for example, climate change, disaster risk reduction, biodiversity, poverty reduction, and sustainable consumption.
It also requires participatory teaching and learning methods that motivate and empower learners to change their behaviour and take action for sustainable development.
ESD consequently promotes competencies like critical thinking, imagining future scenarios and making decisions in a collaborative way.
ESD is essential for the achievement of a sustainable society and is therefore desirable at all levels of formal education and training, as well as in non-formal and informal learning."
From the Actions for SDGs' activities and projects, participants learnt how ESG encapsulated within the SDGs, then one will know how to do the right thing in your day to day life that can avoid or at least minimise the harm to the environment and ecosystem, understand the mutual-benefit (fair-share) for the society and set policy for future-good.
Along the way, this community-led initiative transforming the 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗱 to a worthy place with value-add, Placemaking effort plays a big part.
Our work fills big gap in our not so civic-minded and not so green society.
One simple example, if the place looks like a dumpsite, it attracts more waste dumped on the site no matter what kind of warning/fine signages you put up.
The moment you transformed the place that looks 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲, it becomes game changing.

Our effort and initiative attracted many volunteers/trainings for subject matters and became a platformed for multistakeholder collaborations, and we are grateful for all
volunteers / trainees / supporters / partners / friends and families who come
from near and far and be part of this initiative with us, believe in us:
"The Stupid" 😬(Kennedy Michael, Founder) who drives this crazy initiatives,
eventually won him the STAR Golden Hearts Award 2020 and the team,
wearing the tshirt, ‘I’m with Stupid’ in this long-haul journey.
As we challenged the norms, break conventions, and we encourage diversity of thoughts and actions, we are humbled and honoured being bestowed the
𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 category of the MIP Placemaking Award on 1st December 2023, by the Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP).
